Film

How It Is  (2022)

This short film was made in the woods at Heavens Gate, Longleat. It was after a collaboration with MA Dance students for the Holburne Museum, seeing how they moved to express ideas, that I wanted to see how it would be to use my body in a film, to transform. My sister and I put on fur coats and wolf heads made of chicken wire and went to howl. On looking back at the footage the go-pro  camera had stuck in slow motion mode, a serendipitous moment-which I kept. Time stilled, the sound of the birds- haunting, and our voices merging into one note at the end. The visual language of film is exciting,  to watch and to escape into another place is a pleasure.

Felt  (2022)

On one of the hottest days, we carried my objects and some raw fleece into a field to create shots for my final major project film. I had been looking at the early films of Derek Jarman, 'A visit to Avebury'(1971) and 'In the shadow of the sun' (1981) and wanted to recreate a similar flickering, mesmerising scene. I put the fleece on-so hot and strong smelling, and became something else. Some elements are slowed, some reversed. The sturdy white horse at the end is perhaps my favourite part.
